What is the MVOC?
Whether you prefer a quiet walk in the woods, or want to try something more adventurous like caving or rock climbing, the Miami Valley Outdoor Club has something for everyone.
MVOC was established in 1978 by a group of outdoor enthusiasts and has grown to over 100 members. Through the years, MVOC members have been able to participate in a variety of activities including hiking, camping, backpacking, canoeing, bicycling, caving, rock climbing, cross country and downhill skiing, white water rafting, windsurfing, rollerblading and trail maintenance. And we have a few indoor activities such as basketball. Your participation depends solely on your level of interest.
Some activities are easy afternoon or after work trips and might include a hike at John Bryan, canoeing or tubing on local rivers, rock climbing at the Urban Krag, or bicycling or rollerblading on the local bike trails. Other activities are more involved and may include weekend or longer backpacking, caving or camping trips or rock climbing at Red River Gorge. Some of our more adventurous trips have included backpacking in Isle Royal National Park, white water rafting on the Colorado River, canoeing in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota, camping in Hawaii, backpacking in the Dolomites of Italy, and cross-country skiing in Yellowstone National Park.
